Call of Duty: Ghosts offre una nuova, affascinante esperienza di gioco costruita su una storia, in un'ambientazione e con un cast di personaggi inediti, il tutto alimentato da un nuovo motore Call of Duty di prossima generazione che ridefinisce la serie. Questo nuovo capitolo della saga, vanterà di un comparto grafico rinnovato, grazie alla tecnologia chiamata Sub D che renderà il gioco molto più realistico, incrementando il numero di poligoni a disposizione, quindi visi, armi e paesaggi modellati alla perfezione tanto da sembrare veri. Parlando di armi, gli sviluppatori hanno fatto dei notevoli passi avanti, migliorando la mira in particolare il mirino che appare completamente circolare, questo perchè sono stati utilizzati un maggior numero di poligoni. Il gioco sarà ambientato in un futuro prossimo scritto da Stephen Gaghan, lo stesso scrittore di Traffic. Il protagonista dovrà affrontare una tecnologia nuova, inedita, sfruttata dai nemici. Parlando di multiplayer ci saranno mappe dinamiche, per cui i giocatori potrebbero essere uccisi da un momento ad un altro da inondazioni, glaciazioni ed ogni sorta di catastrofe ambientale. Ad esempio piazzando degli esplosivi nel giusto posso è possibile provare dei terremoti o la caduta di macigni . Ultima ma di certo non meno importante novità, riguarda la presenza di un cane che accompagnerà il giocatore nella modalità giocatore singolo.
